Corporate Profile
There are various Kongsberg presences in what is now the most prolific shipbuilding continent in the world. Alongside Kongsberg Maritime China Ltd. and Kongsberg Maritime Singapore Pte. is a major division in Korea. Based in the heart of Korea's shipbuilding industry, Kongsberg Maritime Korea's Busan site has teams in Sales, Project, Field Operation and Customer Support departments, each corresponding to the business/manufacturing locations in Norway. Additionally, the company operates a Seoul liaison office. Kongsberg Maritime Korea employs approximately 80 staff, of which approximately 50 have their daily work in Busan, 12 in Ulsan, 13 in Geoje Island and two in Mokpo Field Offices, and one in Seoul. Worldwide Training As part of the closer to the customer philosophy, Kongsberg Maritime wants customers to feel comfortable with the systems they buy. "The training department's vision is safety through knowledge. Good systems are not enough if users don't know how to use them," said Anne Toril Kasin, Product Training Manager at Kongsberg Maritime, Offshore & Marine. Kongsberg Maritime's courses and training activities are based at company headquarters in Kongsberg but there are different types of training centers for different products in Horten, Trondheim, Aberdeen, Macaé, Brazil, Houston, Singapore, Busan in South Korea and, as from the autumn, in Dubai. The Training Center in Kongsberg was one of the first centers in the world approved by the Nautical Institute. Last year, a total of 2,500 customers participated in different courses run by Kongsberg Maritime around the world. "Kongsberg Maritime is growing. To be able to offer customers good courses and training programs, we are currently increasing our training staff by nearly 50 percent worldwide," said Kasin. "This is necessary so that we can offer courses and training programs closer to our customers." The company will do this through training at existing centers, and at new support centers in the process of being built up. "In addition, we plan to offer courses and training in customer venues to a greater extent. Using our mobile classroom, which is pretty much a classroom in a box, our instructors can take their training equipment and tools out into the field, providing courses and training on board vessels, for example," said Kasin.

Kongsberg Maritime offers different types of courses and training programs. All the courses on offer to customers are specially adapted for the individual customer, vessel or customer groups. However, they are based on some core elements. Kongsberg Maritime is also certified to run DP courses pursuant to the Nautical Institute's scheme for DP
certification with centers of excellence in Kongsberg and Macae, Brazil. Since becoming the full operational company in 2004, the several companies that make the whole have settled into the routine of being Kongsberg Maritime departments. Closer together and with an integrated Sales & Marketing organization, Kongsberg Maritime has been
more able to present its solutions the way it wants the world to see them -- as The Full Picture. "The Full Picture goes further than technology. The philosophy of getting closer to the customer, that is so prevalent in our people, entails providing complete support, training and 24-hour availability, regardless of geographical
