Expected guests of the SMTC& E and SPS include representatives of various maritime industries. Among them will be industry regulators, students, ship owners and operators, managers and directors of engineering and technology, boat and ship builders, marine engineers, marine scientists, marine professionals, yacht designers, naval architects and engineers, ocean engineers, offshore industry professionals, and oil company executives. So far, the schedule provided by organizers of the SMTC&E and SPS promise to be a packed one. SNAME, SPS, and student papers submitted for SNAME will cover key issues affecting the maritime technology industry today. Tentative topics for presentations include Energy Transportation, Environmental Effects, Ferries, HighSpeed Craft, LNGCs, Ship Design & Technology, Ship Production, Tugs, and Yachts. The Conference will also feature a special panel discussion about the implementation of the International Ship and Port Security in Southeast Florida. In addition, SNAME 2006 will feature three all-day courses. Course 1- A Review of Basic Naval Architecture, and Course 2- Introduction to the Design of Floating Offshore Oil and Gas Facilities- are scheduled for Wednesday, October 11, while Course 3- Seakeeping is scheduled for October 13. The fee for each course is $175 for members and $300 for non-members. Registration hours for the conference and courses are: October 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the hotel); Thursday, October 12, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and October 13, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Expo portion of the event will provide event-goers an opportunity to network and examine new product demonstrations. The Expo, which opens October 12, will feature more than 175 booths and enable attendees to meet potential clients or partners, and review new technology in the shipbuilding, design, technology, and production sectors of the industry.
